Getting involved in this GVO initiave has been a deeply enriching experience, both personally and culturally. As a local, collaborating with people from different countries has allowed me to see my own culture from a new perspective while also opening myself up to new ways of thinking and communicating. It is an opportunity to build bridges, break down stereotypes, and create genuine connections based on mutual respect and curiosity. What stands out most to me is the welcoming atmosphere and the strong sense of community that is created. When I began researching where to move in Spain, I came across the GVO Facebook page. I followed it for a few months as I applied for my Visa and prepared for the move. The group was very helpful with general information and the posts that were so kind to everyone, even strangers asking all types of questions about moving and life in general in Oviedo. It was a deciding factor in my final decision to move to Oviedo. Since then, I have enjoyed all types of events, meaningful conversations, laughter, and meeting honest, caring people who have become dear friends. I could not have had a softer landing in a new city, thanks to Global Vibes. I've even become friends with local Asturians who joined the group to expand their community of international friends. I've gained so much from Global Vibes, with no commitment or expectation asked of me, except to attend something I signed up for, such as a museum tour, for example. Global Vibes is administered with integrity, fairness, and consideration for all, which is no small task. I am both in awe and grateful for the efforts put forth by the administrative team.
